For all patterns, basic skills related to working with a sewing machine is assumed (you can set different types of stitches, adjust the tension of the bobbin thread, etc.) and you should also have a basic knowledge of textile materials (you should be able to tell woven fabrics and knits apart and know the basic properties of both of these types of textile materials). If you need to refresh or expand your knowledge of textile materials, please read my article on their basic properties: Types of textile materials

Why is it necessary to know these things? Because without their knowledge it is not possible to make progress. If you want to drive a car, then you must first go to a driving school, which includes the study of theoretical and practical aspects of driving. :) So, before you start sewing, please read my article about materials. You can also download one of my free patterns and try to sew something according to it.

Remember, it doesn’t matter how many years you have been sewing for, the important thing is how many different products you have sewn.

This section also includes patterns designed for flexible materials. Even beginners are expected to have knowledge of their sewing machine and knowledge of working with stretchy materials. If you are going to sew knits (elastic materials) on a regular sewing machine, I highly recommend reading this article before you buy a pattern designed for knits:
